Righteousness

A righteous life is a life led in obedience to God for the purpose of honoring the Lord God.

Righteousness means acting in a just and upright manner. A person chooses to do what is right and virtuous because of his or her love and obedience to the One Holy, Almighty God and for God's Glory alone.      (The definition of "self-righteous" means doing things because of your own pride and not for the glory of God alone.)  Any word, action, thought or emotion that you have done in the attitude that agrees with the Living and  Holy God's Will and desire for your life shows righteousness.  God's Laws tell some of God's instructions for your life.  Below you will find other descriptions of a righteous life.

He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8

The result of righteousness is life.  Not just life of your physical body, but the life of your soul.  Eternal Live.  That is why your life is so joyous, satisfying and prosperous when you are obeying and honoring the All-Loving Lord God.  Eternal life is permanent because it comes when you choose to give yourself to Jesus Christ.  It is then that God becomes your father.  You become His child, and God NEVER gives you away, NEVER has an abortion, and NEVER changes His mind.  "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5 His promises are permanent.

When you belong to God, He shows His love to you and He continually helps you in your life.   You must continually come to Him for every need.  Your life is more blessed with each step you take toward the Lord.  Allowing God to love you and to live in friendship with you is the most wonderful and awesome experience you can ever have.  It is a great adventure to unknown heights and depths, but always safe travel because you are holding His hand.

Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.  Matthew 13:43
